A Note to Our American Friends
A Note on US Tariffs, Shipping & Cross-Border Reality
First things first — thank you. Truly.
We love you guys.
You’ve supported us and our small Canadian team in big ways, and we don’t take that lightly. Nothing makes us happier than seeing your installs, hearing your adventure stories, and knowing our gear is helping fuel your EPIC moments.
All EPIC products are designed and built in Canada, using a mix of Canadian and US materials, powered by Canadian muscle (our hands are bigger up here — it’s science). We proudly source from trusted vendors on both sides of the border, because Canada and the U.S. have a long history of working together — whether that’s trade, adventure, or the occasional hockey rivalry.
USMCA / CUSMA Compliance (The Important Part)
Let’s clear this up plainly and simply:
EPIC products are USMCA / CUSMA compliant.
- There are no tariffs applied to our products when imported into the United States.
- Our products are properly classified, fully documented, and legally qualify for tariff-free entry.
- In short: you are not paying US tariffs on EPIC products.
So... Why Have Costs Changed?
While tariffs are not an issue for us, cross-border shipping absolutely is.
Over the past year, we’ve seen significant increases in:
- Courier shipping rates.
- Customs brokerage and clearance fees.
- Administrative costs tied to cross-border processing.
These increases affect every Canadian business shipping to the US, regardless of tariff status. We’ve absorbed as much of this as humanly possible (and then some), but some pressure inevitably trickles down.
What that means in practice:
- Shipping prices have increased slightly, driven entirely by courier and clearance costs outside our control.
- Product pricing has largely remained stable, despite higher backend costs to us.
- We’re doing our best to protect you from the worst of it — because that’s what good neighbours do.
Why Not Just Make Everything in the US?
We get this question a lot — and trust us - we're working on it.
The short version:
- Setting up U.S. manufacturing as a Canadian company is complex.
- It requires significant upfront investment, legal structure, and operational scale.
- It’s not something that happens overnight.
The honest version:
We’re actively working toward long-term solutions that reduce cross-border friction — but we won’t rush it, and we won’t compromise quality to do it.
We’ve taken a thoughtful approach to our growth strategy and are exploring partnerships with a strategic American-based investor. If someone comes to mind, we’d be happy to connect and discuss the opportunity.
Final Word
Every EPIC purchase directly supports:
- A small, independent Canadian team that uses American-made components/vendors.
- Thoughtfully designed, well-tested gear.
- Cross-border craftsmanship done the right way.
We’re incredibly grateful for our US customers, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to build cool parts, ship them responsibly, and stay transparent along the way.
Thanks for sticking with us.
We appreciate you more than you know.
Cheers,
The EPIC Team
